Formed over 75 years ago the Weobley Branch currently has some 40 members and we meet every 6 weeks on a Monday at 7.30pm in The Salutation. We endeavour to maintain and promote the aims of the Royal British Legion which are "to relieve pain and suffering and distress among ex-Service men and women and their dependants"
We can help in various ways such as Veteran's Breaks, Lifeline telephones, help with claiming War Disability and War Widows Pensions, Applications for Benefits and other Form Filling /Letters and Representations.
The Weobley Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) held its annual Summer Social this year in the garden of Richmond, Weobley, on Sunday 25th June by kind invitation of Jill and Malcolm Ainslie. The garden, always immaculate, was looking superb for the occasion and clearly a lot of hard work had gone into making it ready and setting up the gazebos etc.
Over 40 members of the Branch with their guests attended the BBQ and enjoyed a delicious cold buffet of salmon and ham accompanied by a splendid array of salads all prepared by Jill Ainslie and Wendy Hereford. This was followed by some terrific “Puds” also made by Jill and Wendy. Malcolm tested our intelligence with a taxing quizzes!
Overall an excellent time was had by all and an amazing profit in excess of £350 was paid into the Weobley War Memorial Fund, partly to fund the cleaning of the War Memorial in 2018. This was certainly helped by the generous support of Jane and Andrew Parsons at The Old School Shop. Thanks, too, for the logistical support provided by Roger Marshall who, quite literally, “took a weight off our shoulders”!
