WEOBLEY CELEBRATE 70 YEARS OF BOWLING

(published by: Weobley and District Bowling Club)

24/03/2017

Weobley and District Bowling Club launch their 70th Anniversary season with a friendly game at Ledbury on Thursday 20th April.

The club was formed in 1947 for villagers who had returned from the Second World War at the Red Lion, before moving to their new green on Hereford Road in 2009.

"We have been successful in attracting several people who want to take up bowling, and will join the club under our policy of free membership for the first season following the story in the Hereford Times and The Magpie" said secretary Jean Bufton.

"The scheme is still open to anyone who wishes to take up the sport. Those interested in taking up bowls are invited to come along to our Friday club night throughout the season, starting on Friday 21st April at 6 pm."

Weobley has a full fixture list of over fifty matches, including a visit of Friends of Bowls England who will celebrate the 70th Anniversary with members on the 13th September.

Weobley and District Bowling Club are looking to strengthen their playing squad for the forthcoming season. If you are interested in taking up the game we are offering free membership for the first season for any new bowler who joins the club.

We have excellent facilities, including a dining room for sixty people, a bar, along with an excellent green, and plenty of parking spaces in the surrounding complex. Any new bowlers interested in taking up the opportunity on offer, we have appropriate shoes and bowls to try your hand at the game.
